Friends of the Shelter Foundation is a volunteer-run, foster-based rescue in the Oklahoma City area. We rescue, rehabilitate, and rehome dogs and cats from rural and under-resourced communities across Oklahoma — and every pet waits for their family in a loving foster home, never a kennel.

Find & apply

Browse our available pets, review the requirements, and complete the online adoption application for the dog or cat you love.

We review — 3–5 business days

We’re a 100% volunteer organization, so thank you for your patience. We’ll check references, vet history, and landlord approval where needed.

Meet, sign & go home

Once approved, the foster family arranges a meet-and-greet. Sign the Adoption Agreement online, pay the fee listed on your pet’s listing, and head home.

We have no physical shelter. Every animal in our care lives in a foster home, which means we can only help as many animals as we have foster homes for. FSF covers all veterinary care and food — you provide the love, shelter, and rides to vet appointments and adoption events.
