How to Adopt a Cat

Not just dogs, we’re helping rescue cats too!

Friends of the Shelter Foundation is proud to partner with “Neva’s Kitty Halfway House” in support of finding furever homes for rescued cats and kittens!

We’re not just rescuing dogs! You’ll see cats and kittens listed for adoption on our website, adoption listings, and social media posts.

We’d like to thank Pawtopia in Norman, OK and Bone Dog Boutique in Oklahoma City, OK for housing our available cats and helping with the adoption process.

For some tips on introducing a new cat to your home, check out our helpful guide on our “Bringing a New Cat Home” page.

You can review our listings of each cat/kitten and meet your future cat at Pawtopia in Norman, OK and Bone Dog Boutique & Self Service Dog Wash during regular business hours. Once you’ve decided on adopting a pet, simply complete an adoption application.

You can submit the application one of three ways, depending on location:

  1. Complete the Online Cat Adoption Form, with a copy electronically delivered to Pawtopia and/or Bone Dog Boutique for review. We’ll reach out to you by phone or email, once the application is received.
  2. Pawtopia Only: Download and fill out the PDF copy of the application. Bring the completed printed copy of the application with you to Pawtopia, in Norman. Bone Dog Boutique requires an online application for consideration, paper applications are not accepted.
  3. By Visiting Pawtopia, during regular business hours, and filling out an adoption application on-site. Bone Dog Boutique will require you to complete this online, via our online form.

Please ensure the information listed on the adoption application is accurate, true, and complete prior to submission. Please bring valid photo ID with you to the store, in the event it is requested or required. You may adopt a pet the same day, if you visit the Pawtopia store in Norman, and your application is able to be approved quickly. Bone Dog Applications are processed by us directly, and approval is given as soon as possible.

There is a 14 day trial period with every cat adoption, which allows for some time to introduce your pet to their new surroundings. Should a reason arise where you find you’re not the best fit, you may arrange to return them to us. We’ll then review any other applicants that may have expressed interest in the same cat.

If you have any questions, check out our FAQ’s page, send us a message with our “Contact” form, or chat with us on Facebook Messenger.
